european metrology research programme
The EMRP consists of a series of Calls during the 7 years fom 2009. Each Call consists of three stages:
Stage 1 Call for topics – here anyone can submit proposals for topics for research in metrology dedicated to meeting the particular Grand Challenge of the Call, e.g. in early 2010 a call will be published ( www.euramet.org) addressing i) Metrology for Industry and ii) Metrology for the Environment thematic programmes. Since this is fully open, even non-NMIs can contribute with their topic ideas, indeed are explicitly encouraged to do so.
Stage 2 Call for proposals – at this stage, consortia can be formed – where NMIs are the dominant actors, but can also include any valid research partner. If the proposal for a joint research project (JRP) is approved, only the NMIs can get project money, but other partners (universities, industry etc) might like to take part in the research with their own funding. There is also an opportunity for non-NMI partners to apply personally for researcher excellence grants and mobility grants, rather similar to Marie Curie/People grants, but dedicated to metrology instead and always connected to JRP proposals.
Stage 3 Call for Researcher Excellence Grants – Here additional proposals can be submitted by non-NMI partners to apply personally for researcher excellence grants and mobility grants, always connected to JRP projects.
