A preliminary meeting was held at the 6th International euspen Conference in Baden bei Wien, Austria in May 2006.

The first Special Interest Group Meeting was held on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, Netherlands in December 2006.

The second Special Interest Group Meeting was held in Maastricht, Netherlands in December 2007. It was attended by over 80 international delegates with approaching two thirds of delegates drawn from industry.
