welcome
28th May - 1st June 2006, Baden bei Wien, Vienna, Austria
In 2006, the 6th international conference of the european society for precision engineering and nanotechnology (euspen ) is to be held in Baden, Austria, 26km south of Vienna. Austria provides an excellent location for the conference with its geographical position at the crossroads between north, south, east and west Europe.
Technologically Austria has world class capabilities in automotive design, biotechnology, new materials and environmental technology as well as pharmacology and chemicals. It also maintains a high ratio of engineers and academics and has a strong business orientation of its university research.
The 2006 conference is being coordinated in conjunction with the Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems , Vienna University of Technology and the Institute of Production Engineering , Graz University of Technology where the latter have leading activities in industrial sensor systems, applied electronic materials and microsystems technology as well as machine tool technologies and robotics.
The conference will have a full programme of review papers, state of the art research papers, professional development tutorials and a comprehensive exhibition with relevant industrial visits in the local area. A particular focus will be given this year to the latest development in large and nano optics, EUV lithography and mechatronics as well as euspen's traditional themes of ultra precision processes, machines and technologies.
Baden itself is situated in the heart of the wine-growing thermal region, South of Vienna and offers a rich variety of baths and springs, parks and gardens, and coffee houses as well as leisure and sports facilities. The conference will take place at the excellent Congress Casino Baden and I look forward to welcoming you there for what promises to be a valuable and stimulating meeting.
